Come and Try Archery at Canberra Archery Club

Join us at the Lyneham Archery Range for a fun and challenging introduction to the world of archery.

The Club conducts Come and Try sessions for beginners on Sundays.

Registrations can only be made using the Book Now button above. We cannot accommodate payment upon arrival.

Come and Try sessions are designed for beginners who have never tried archery before or those who are looking to see if archery is for them, although anyone is welcome. A session runs for 1.5hrs and all equipment is provided. The sessions are run by qualified coaches who will be able to show you how to shoot safely.

Come and Try sessions are open to people aged 7+, however we ask that parents of children aged 7-10 supervise their children.

We request that attendees do not bring their own equipment to come and try sessions.
This is due to safety concerns and the damage higher poundage bows can cause to the
targets we use for this.

We do not supply compound bows for Come and Try. The training for compound bows is essentially the same as for a Recurve bow (The KSL cycle, or the 10 steps). Recurve's are not as complex to set up and maintain and do not require specialist coaches to do so.

Each session is $30 per person. Our sessions still run in the wet weather (excluding unsafe conditions such as lightning). We usually shoot from undercover if it's wet.

Bring a water bottle and hair ties and something safe to put jewellery in as well.  Nose rings, hair and watches can get caught in the string, either remove theses thing before leaving home or when you get to the club.
A few spare hair ties are available if you forget.

Please send all come and try inquiries to coachingcac@gmail.com

(please check your Spam folder if you don’t receive a response within a reasonable period).

Please note that we usually require everyone who has never used a bow before do at least one Come n Try sessions before becoming a member. This includes safety information that is vital for all concerned. It is mentioned on the membership page that committee approval being a part of becoming a member and we reserve this right to not accept anyone who has not been through Come N Try.
